Resolutions

So, this is my first ever post on my shiny new blog! I’m extremely excited to start blogging, it’s something I’ve wanted to do seriously for a long while and I suppose it’s high time I started. So if you’re reading this, then hello!

A little about myself first. I’m Suhail, from Milton Keynes, England. I’m turning 18 soon and currently I’m in my final year of A-Levels, studying Philosophy, History and Classics. I love writing in all it’s various forms, be it poetry, fiction, reviews- the lot. Since I was young I knew I wanted to write as a career but given how hard it is to actually be successful in that field, I guess it was all a pipe dream. Nonetheless, running a Blog is good enough for me!

Now, onto my main point for this post. As the title suggests, it’s that time of the year where weΒ allΒ sit down, pen in hand and write down some bullshit goals for the year ahead. You do it, I do it and for the rest of the year we completely forget about it. It’s strange though, we make the effort to actually think back and reflect on how great/horrible the year that just passed was, and try to act upon it by making these resolutions.

I’m no stranger to this, and I too am going to make some resolutions, which I’ll share with you guys, because what better way to start a blog than to share my probably-unattainable-goals with people on the internet(!)

My first resolution is to make and run a (relatively) successful blog! I’ve been putting it off for so long and I suppose with the new year, it’s a good time to start. I think many of my posts will either be reviewing something or talking about recent events be it in the news or pop culture, a large mishmash of stuff, one might put it. Either way it’s going to be my little baby for the year and hopefully years to come, but baby steps of course!

My second goal is to get into University. This is kinda one of those “generic” ones, like lose weight or pass exams or something-of-the-sort but it’s so important to me. I’m in love with the University of Leeds and honestly, it’s one of the only things driving me to keep focused on school. They’ve offered me a place, so long as I get ABB as my A-Level Results. So fingers crossed!

Anyway, enough about me. My question for you, my lovely readers is what are your New Year Resolutions for 2014? Let me know in the comments below and if you liked this post please let me know, it means sooo much to me!

See you soon,

Suhail x

  1. Suhail. I wish you luck on you’re New Years Resolutions and I believe whole-heartedly that you will complete all of them! πŸ™‚ I will definitely be reading all of your future posts! My goal, I haven’t really picked, but I suppose it would be to keep my grades up so that I can still go to Stanford. πŸ™‚
